Rodney Cushing came into the media business with his wife Rose in 2011 with the creation of Carolina Hoofbeats magazine. Having had an extensive background in electronics and engineering, Rodney quickly became a tremendous piece of the puzzle that has formed Cushing Media Productions. Rodney's skill and ability to learn new things quickly catapulted him to Staff Photographer status within the magazines. Moving into the television production segment of CMP, Rodney has been able to hone his photography skills and grow into videography, editing and lighting for our television show. Rodney now serves as President and CEO of Cushing Media Productions.
Rose Cushing, Vice President and Creative Director
Rose Cushing always wanted to be a writer. After working many years in various types of office and management scenarios she decided to chase that dream. After taking classes at Johnston Community College she began to experiment with her writing skills and landed a job as columnist for a local weekly newspaper, The Spring Hope Enterprise. Moving into that positions she quickly became Advertising Director and Columnist. From the weekly paper Rose transitioned into a daily newspaper in Tarboro, The Daily Southerner as their Marketing Director. This opportunity allowed Rose to flex her muscles and learn the fine points of the publication industry. In this position Rose created several magazines giving her the experience necessary to begin the journey of Cushing Media Productions.
In 2011 Rose decided to quit her job at the newspaper and go into business with her husband to produce North Carolina's first equine magazine. Realizing that the equine industry in North Carolina was a $2 billion dollar industry she felt it could certainly support and grow with a magazine highlighting horses. Southeast Hoofbeats became the metamorphosis of Carolina Hoofbeats and Southeast Equine magazines and is now celebrating the beginning of it's fifth year in production.
